Referring a patient to AIM Hearing
AIM Hearing is a 100% Bundaberg owned and independent hearing clinic in Avoca, operating since 2018. We accept referrals from general practice for hearing assessment, tinnitus, hearing aid review, ear wax removal and occupational hearing testing.
A referral is not required for your patient to be seen, but the clinical information helps us provide better care and keeps you informed of the outcome.

What we do
- Comprehensive hearing assessment, a full diagnostic battery including speech in noise, not a 15-minute screening.
- Hearing aids, fitted independently across all major manufacturers, with every fitting verified using Real Ear Measurement.
- Ear wax removal by microsuction under video otoscopy, useful where wax is obstructing your view of the tympanic membrane.
- Tinnitus assessment and management guidance.
- Hearing Services Program and DVA. We are an accredited provider for both. Conditions apply under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program.
- Occupational hearing testing for workplace and noise exposure monitoring.
Veterans beginning a DVA claim
If you have an ex-service patient who does not hold a DVA White Card and is starting a claim for hearing loss or tinnitus, we provide the initial hearing and tinnitus assessment at no charge and work directly with their advocate to support the application.
Where we believe hearing loss or tinnitus should be recorded on the card as a specific condition, we will write a report and send it to you so the paperwork can move forward to the advocate. There is no cost to the veteran for that initial assessment.
We work with advocates from the Defence Veterans Drop-In Centre in Bundaberg and with experienced advocates in Hervey Bay, Gladstone, Agnes Water and surrounds. If you have a patient who has been going in circles on this, send them to us.
What you get back
A written report following the assessment, in plain clinical language. Where findings fall outside our scope, or where medical review is indicated, we will advise you directly and recommend onward referral.
Please flag urgent presentations
Sudden hearing loss, unilateral or asymmetric loss, otalgia or discharge, vertigo, recent head or ear trauma, or pulsatile tinnitus. Tick the relevant box on the referral form and we will prioritise the appointment and contact you promptly.
