What does AIM stand for?
It gets asked more than you’d think, and most people assume the I is a middle initial.
It isn’t. AIM is Alan and Isabelle Macgillivray. Isabelle is my daughter, and she was still small when I started the practice. I wanted a name that told me, every time I looked at the logo, exactly who I was doing it for.
One day she’ll grow up and move away. The name means she’s still here.

For over seven years, AIM Hearing has given the Bundaberg region a genuinely independent choice for hearing care. I’m Alan Macgillivray — a qualified Audiometrist with 15 years’ experience in hearing care, and an accredited provider under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program (HSP) and for Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) clients.
A quick word on titles: “audiologist” is the term most people use when they’re looking for help with their hearing, so you’ll see it used around our site and online. To be precise, I’m an audiometrist — a fully qualified, accredited hearing care professional. For the services I provide, and in particular all Hearing Services Program and DVA hearing services, an accredited audiometrist’s scope of practice is essentially the same as an audiologist’s: you receive the same assessments, the same range of subsidised hearing devices, and the same standard of ongoing care you would receive from any other accredited provider — with the added benefit of independent, local, one-on-one attention that isn’t tied to any manufacturer.
I’m a full member of the Australian College of Audiology and the Hearing Business Alliance. Before opening AIM Hearing, I was Senior Clinician at Connect Hearing Bundaberg, and earlier practised at Audika and AudioClinic Bundaberg — so my experience is grounded right here in the local community. That experience goes into every appointment: honest advice, the right recommendation for you, and no sales targets.

Are you an audiologist or an audiometrist?
Alan Macgillivray is a qualified audiometrist, a full member of the Australian College of Audiology and a full member of the Hearing Business Alliance, and an accredited provider under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program and for Department of Veterans’ Affairs clients.

We’re at Shop 1/1 Heidke St, Avoca QLD 4670 — next to McDonald’s Sugarland and about a block from Bunnings, so we’re easy to reach from anywhere in Bundaberg.
