AIM Signature Care: Private Hearing Care in Bundaberg

Our AIM is to help you hear your absolute best.

AIM Signature Care is our private hearing care program for people who want more than a quick hearing test and a hearing aid in a box. It is a structured, step-by-step program, from a thorough first assessment to long-term aftercare, and you will see the same clinician, Alan, at every appointment.

Why a structured program matters

Hearing aids are only as good as the way they are selected, fitted and programmed. When hearing aids are first set up, the software starts from average estimates for someone with your type of hearing loss. Those estimates do not know the shape of your ear canal, how you hear in background noise, or the conversations that matter most to you.

AIM Signature Care replaces estimates with measurement, and replaces a one-off fitting with a plan. Each stage builds on the last, so small issues are caught early and your hearing aids keep performing as your hearing and your life change.

The four stages of AIM Signature Care

1. Assess: a full one-hour hearing assessment

This is a thorough diagnostic assessment, not a quick screening designed to sell a hearing aid. We allow a full hour so nothing is rushed.

  • Your story and your goals. Your hearing history, your health, and the situations you find hardest, whether that is the club, the grandkids, meetings or the TV.
  • A look inside your ears. Video otoscopy, shown on screen so you can see what we see.
  • A middle ear check. Tympanometry, to check how your eardrum and middle ear are working.
  • Tone testing. Through headphones and a bone conductor, to find the softest sounds you can hear and where any hearing loss is coming from.
  • Speech testing in quiet. How clearly you understand words, not just whether you can hear them.
  • Speech-in-noise testing. How well you follow speech in busy places, which helps us choose the right level of technology for you.
  • Your results, in plain English. We explain what every result means for your everyday life, and can send a copy to your GP.

2. Fit: independent, verified fitting

  • Independent recommendations. We fit hearing aids from major manufacturers and recommend what suits your hearing, your ears, your lifestyle and your budget, not a supplier target.
  • Comfort first. If hearing aids are not comfortable, they end up in a drawer. We get the physical fit right before anything else.
  • Real Ear Measurement. A tiny microphone in your ear canal measures exactly what your hearing aids deliver to your eardrum, and we adjust them to match the prescription for your hearing loss.
  • Set up for your life. Phone connection, the hearing aid app, and hands-on training in using and caring for your devices.
  • Try before you commit. A 7-day trial is available on request, and every purchase comes with a 30-day return window.

3. Settle In: follow-up until it is right

Your brain needs time to adjust to hearing sounds it may have missed for years. A follow-up appointment is part of every Signature fitting, and we include a second follow-up within 60 days if needed, so you are completely satisfied with how your hearing aids sound and feel.

4. Look After: long-term care

We recommend a check-up every year. Each visit includes a hearing re-check, cleaning and servicing of your hearing aids, and retuning if your hearing has changed, so your hearing aids keep working as well as the day they were fitted. All done locally in Avoca.

Already wearing hearing aids? The Signature Review

Many people are told they have been fitted with good hearing aids, yet still struggle to follow conversation. Often the hearing aids are fine; they have simply never been verified or fine-tuned for the person wearing them.

The Signature Review is a second opinion for hearing aids fitted by any clinic. We check whether your hearing aids are the right technology for your hearing, whether they are working properly, and whether they are programmed to your hearing loss, using Real Ear Measurement. Then we tell you honestly whether they can be improved, and how.

Bring a loved one: hearing is a family matter

Hearing loss rarely affects just one person. Partners, children and friends live with the missed conversations, the loud TV and the repeated questions too, and they often notice changes long before you do.

That is why we encourage you to bring someone who knows you well to your assessment and your fitting. They can share what they have noticed, help remember what was discussed, and learn how to support you. Their familiar voice also helps us fine-tune your hearing aids for the people who matter most to you.

Our approach to pricing

We do not publish a one-size-fits-all price, because a number on a website cannot tell you whether a hearing aid will suit your hearing. After your assessment, you will receive a clear, personalised quote with the options explained honestly, including when a less expensive device will do the job just as well.

We also deliberately do not offer finance or payment plans. We have seen patients caught out by them, and we would rather help you choose something that genuinely fits your budget.

Your clinician

AIM Signature Care is delivered by Alan Macgillivray, owner of AIM Hearing. Alan has more than 15 years in hearing care, including as a senior clinician with one of Australia’s largest hearing networks, before opening AIM Hearing as a 100% locally owned, independent clinic. He is a full member of the Hearing Business Alliance and the Australian College of Audiology, and helps train the next generation of hearing professionals by supervising audiology students.

Because AIM Hearing is a sole-clinician practice, you will never be passed between staff. You will see Alan from your first assessment to every check-up.

Frequently asked questions

Is AIM Signature Care for Hearing Services Program or DVA clients?

AIM Signature Care is our private client program. If you are eligible for the Hearing Services Program or DVA, you receive hearing services under that program, and we will explain all your options, including fully subsidised hearing aids. Every hearing aid fitting at AIM Hearing, private or funded, is verified with Real Ear Measurement. Learn about the Hearing Services Program at AIM Hearing.

How long does the assessment take?

We allow a full hour, so there is time to understand your hearing, answer your questions and explain your results properly.

Can I try hearing aids before I buy?

Yes. A 7-day trial is available on request, and every purchase comes with a 30-day return window.

My hearing aids came from another clinic. Can you help?

Yes. The Signature Review is designed for exactly that. We service, adjust and verify hearing aids from any clinic.

Can I bring a family member or friend?

Yes, and we encourage it. Bringing a partner, family member or close friend to your assessment and fitting often leads to a better result, because they can share what they have noticed and help you get the most from your hearing aids.

How often should I have my hearing aids checked?

We recommend a check-up every year, or sooner if you notice a change in your hearing or your hearing aids.
