If you are not sure whether you are eligible to be treated under the Federal Government's Hearing Service Program (HSP), we encourage you to come into the clinic with your pensioner card and our reception staff can make an enquiry in the HSP online portal and let you know in a matter of minutes. If you are new to the program the HSP will then post you a welcome and information pack notifying you of the details of the program.
If you are then we can make an appointment then and there for a full comprehensive hearing test where you will be explained in the consultation of the test results and steps that happen from then. (Please click on the Services Tab on the top of the page to read about what to expect in the hearing Consultation appointment)
If your hearing loss has been identified where you meet minimum criteria to be fitted under the program you have the right to receive Fully Subsidised Basic technology hearing aids where the price of the hearing aids are free.
Many clients feel they want a higher level of technology that have more advanced features to help them work significantly better in more complex situations or feel they need rechargeable hearing aids as their dexterity would not allow them to change hearing aid batteries. This is what the HSP has the partially subsides scheme for.
This will be a discussion in the consultation and you make the decision which is best for you with your lifestyle and financial situation.
Many pensioners feel they cannot transfer to another provider from where they are now or they have to wait until their Battery and Maintenance program is for renewal.
This is a common misconception and is not true.
There are many reasons why you feel there might be a better fit for you in town and it is your right under the program to transfer to a provider of your choice but many people feel apprehensive that they have to engage in an uncomfortable conversation with their current provider to transfer out.
This not true; we do it for you.
If you are currently with another Hearing Services provider and wish to transfer over to AIM hearing for future hearing care services, simply come into AIM hearing and sign a transfer form. We contact the Hearing Services program on your behalf and inform them that you wish to provide future services with us. The Hearing Services Program simply contacts your existing provider notifying them of the transfer and your file (as well as the remainder of your Battery and Maintenance program) is simply transferred over to us.
No muss no fuss its that simple.
We offer a variety of assistive listening devices to help you hear better in difficult listening environments, such as noisy restaurants or group conversations. Our team will work with you to find the right solution for your needs. These ALD's are not free under the Hearing Services program and would require an out of pocket expense on the clients part.
We do have a range of working ALD's in our reception are that we can show you in-situ so you can make your own informed decision on whether it works for you.
